Kanata Community seeks to be a church that is “living faith for real life“. Our intention is to build community and love our neighbours. We do this through weekly services, authentic small groups, passionate kids’ programs and serving in our community.
How We Live Faith for Real Life:
- Authentic: Questions are welcome at KC. Come as you are. No pretenses; no artificial expectations. Worship services are planned to allow anyone to join in praising God through various means. In fellowship and small groups, we learn together what the love of Christ means today; for us, for others, and for the creation in which we live.
- Inclusive: Every person is created in the image of God and is worthy of respect, care, and a place in the family of God. We believe God welcomes all who seek to know more about God’s love. You are valued; you are loved; you are welcome at KC. We try to create a safe and supportive space for people of all races, cultures, sexual orientations, gender identities, ages and relationships. When we fall short of that goal, we want to be reminded, to apologize, and to make adjustments to avoid harming anyone again.
- Engaged: While our building is on a hill, our hearts and minds are in the community. We take seriously God’s call to do justice and love our neighbour as much as we love ourselves, locally and globally. We participate in the causes we believe in. This finds expression in various ways, from volunteer work in the community to support for organizations that work around the world. Check out the Community page to see just a few partners.

Reformed Roots
Our faith and practice are rooted in the love and grace we receive from the Creator God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. They are nurtured through a deep love for the Bible, which is God’s Story and our story. Our Christian faith is summarized in three historic creeds: the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.
Our theological roots and approach to worship and Christian living are in the Protestant and Reformed branches of Christianity. We receive three historic confessions, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism, and the Canons of Dort, along with the Contemporary Testimony titled “Our World Belongs to God” and the Belhar Confession as gifts of the Spirit which continue to shape our teachings. God’s sovereign love for all of creation is our starting point, and we join in the on-going mission of God through Christ to love our neighbours, care for creation, and work for justice and reconciliation in all areas of life.

How can we serve you?
I grew up in a church in Hamilton and joined this church in 2018. I love the people and the sense of community here. I served on council previously and love being able to help members of the church and the community.
